Why we love this place

The best feature of the property is the private river frontage on the Ganges, which can be accessed at any time by the guests. Another highlight of the property is the personalised service and the feeling of a home-away-from-home.

Responsible/Sustainable Tourism

Amrit Bhawan practices a policy of ‘Conscious Consumption’ and encourages guests to do the same. A majority of the staff members at Amrit Bhawan have been hired locally and do not possess degrees – the property runs an upskilling program to bring them up to the standards and pay levels of trained hospitality professionals. There is also an intentional focus on promoting the local ingredients of the Himalayas such as rock salt and millets which are losing their significance in modern diets, thereby affecting the agricultural patterns of the mountains adversely. The property is doing this by highlighting the region’s cuisine in its menus and also by making and selling snacks and condiments using these ingredients sourced from local producers, under the brand ‘Naashta’, which guests can taste and then purchase at the property.

Our Recommendation

The private Ganga Aarti at Amrit Bhawan's own ghat by the river is truly special and intimate! It happens every evening at sunset just for the guests. Another experience that is not to be missed is the Daksh Mandir and Kankhal Walk. It focusses on the architecture and the everyday lives of the locals living along the river and provides a glimpse into old temples as well as residential neighbourhoods and the street food culture.
