The ancestral home of the Kandath family is set in the lush rice paddies of rural Kerala. The house is 200 years old, a gem of domestic architecture constructed primarily of mud and teak.

If time permits, take a cycling trip or a bullock cart ride around the village.
The house was built in 1794 by Mr. Bhagwaldas’s Great Great Grandfather, Mr. Kuppavelan, a landowner and money – lender.
While you enjoy this typical Keralan house, your host, Mr Bhagwaldas or Bugs, is always there to show you around the place.
Tharavad’s Responsible Tourism Initiative seeks to minimize negative economic, environment and social impacts. Generating economic benefits for local people and enhancing the wellbeing of local communities, Tharavad also makes positive contributions to the conservation of natural and cultural heritage, and maintenance of the area’s biodiversity.
