The Kithulgala Resthouse, a historic Kelani Riverfront property is located near the filming location of the popular movie ‘Bridge on the River Kwai’, which was filmed in the 1950’s. The location is also home to a bird sanctuary where wildlife enthusiasts would come across many endemic birds.
Set amidst a tropical landscape, it offers sweeping views of the Kelani River, with the restaurant and rooms overlooking the greenery.
Rooms at Rest House Kitulgala come with modern interiors and dark wood furnishings. All are equipped with a seating area, TV and en suite bathroom with shower facilities.
The restaurant serves a variety of Eastern and Western dishes. A buffet spread of traditional Sri Lankan dishes is available during the weekends. Dining options in the garden or by the river can be arranged.
