Destination

Bandipur National Park, an 874-sq.-km forested reserve in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, is known for its small population of tigers. Once the private hunting ground of the Maharajas of Mysore, the park also harbors Indian elephants, spotted deer, gaurs (bison), antelopes and numerous other native species. The 14th-century Himavad Gopalaswamy Temple offers views from the park’s highest peak.

Accommodation

A panoramic view of the Nilgiris mountain range from every room is bound to keep you captivated throughout your stay at The Serai Bandipur. The jungle-inspired Mountain View Courtyards, Log Huts, and The Residence are the ideal nests to be at one with nature.

Dining

THE SANCTUARY: The Sanctuary is an oasis of fine flavour from across India and around the world.

MOYAR’S EDGE: Carved into the plateau over time infinite by the Moyar River lies the gorge, Moyar. A cozy, quaint and idyllic jungle bar.

Why we love this place

Oscillating between a rain-washed green and a sun-soaked blanket of brown, Bandipur is a tropical deciduous forest. Dotting the forests and shrub-lands are wild boars and sloth bears, tigers leopards, deer, elephants and a plethora of jungle fauna.

Responsible/Sustainable Tourism

Community Involvement: Engage in activities that support the local community, such as cultural exchanges or supporting local artisans and businesses.

Sustainable Dining: Enjoy meals made from locally sourced, organic ingredients, promoting farm-to-table dining experiences.

Our Recommendation

Learn about the local way of life during the bullock cart ride towards a nearby village from The Serai Bandipur. On the way back, enjoy a picnic by the farmlands. The local tribal community offer the bullock cart ride to the guests. During the ride, you get to interact with the villager, who is more than happy to share his stories with you. A family of 4 or fewer can enjoy riding in one cart.
