Destination

Ulagalla is located in the quiet village of Thirappane, 40km north of Dambulla on the Dambulla-Anuradhapura A9 route. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Anuradhapura is a scenic 20km drive from the estate and other Cultural Triangle sites are close by.

Accommodation

25 luxurious villas dot the sprawling estate. Designed to complement its natural surroundings and ethos, each villa has been constructed using a fire-proof and environmentally friendly material – Durra. Made from straw, Durra reduces the transmission of sound, is 100% recyclable and 10 times stronger than drywall. Every villa uses LED lighting and environmentally friendly gas for air conditioning, helping to reduce the estate’s carbon footprint.

Dining

Dining at Ulagalla focuses on farm-to-table cuisine, with ingredients sourced from the resort’s organic garden. Meals can be enjoyed in the main restaurant, by the pool, or in the privacy of your villa. The menu highlights Sri Lankan specialities and Western classics, paired with fine wines.

Ulagalla’s Liyawela restaurant is a true culinary adventure with fresh produce, set against the backdrop of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle. The cocktail bar is ideal to lounge and wind down from a busy day, or guests can indulge in some perfectly aged wine from the
underground wine cellar.
