Ladakh’s high altitude deserts and glaciers are starkly beautiful beyond description, and unlike any Indian landscape. The Indus River runs through a land of mural-decked Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and whitewashed stupas. Fluttering flags and spinning prayer wheels feature prominently in a spectacular landscape of jagged Himalayan peaks, canyons and cold deserts.
Sand dunes in Ladakh’s famous Nubra valley are sculpted by the wind, while elsewhere stunningly azure lakes host migratory birds. Wherever you go, the drive takes you past an almost constantly photographable vista.
