This fabulous boutique ‘villa’ hotel is a hugely welcome addition to the Goan hotel scene. Situated at the end of Coco beach, with waves from the Arabian Sea/Indian ocean tumbling into the sea wall that separates the hotel from the beach (not a swimming beach), Ahilya by the Sea has a unique and glorious setting.
The hotel itself consists of four Portuguese style villas made of hand hewn local red laterite rock, one tower room which is intertwined with an ancient beachfront banyan tree, making it feel like more of a ‘treehouse’ & one small partially sea view room called the Music room. The villas are surrounded by lush landscaped gardens with 2 swimming pools, one next to the sea wall – the ultimate infinity pool – and one surrounded by the garden. The interiors are relaxed and inviting and home to a fascinating collection of personal antiques and Goan art. There are many shaded verandahs for relaxing with a book, or relaxing spots to lie back and admire the views, search for dolphins and let the sea breezes waft over you.
