Ellerton was built for the manager of a large tea estate more than 100 years ago. It still retains its old character and tranquillity.

The hosts aim to make you feel you are staying in a friend’s house and not a hotel. Enjoy your stay in discreet privacy, where staff are always present when required but not hovering about.

You can walk around the property, play board games and have your meals anywhere you wish. Tea, coffee and cake, as well as drinks, are served throughout the day free of charge.

Close to the geographic centre of Sri Lanka, 3 hours drive from Colombo, 30 minutes from Kandy, Ellerton is ideally suited for exploring the Island.

Accommodation

Set in beautiful gardens, Ellerton has 9 comfortable rooms, of which 4 are suites which can house up to four people. All rooms have en-suite facilities.

There are four different suites ; The Main House, The Garden Rooms , The Valley House and the Aurora Bungalow. Each room comes with free wifi.

Dining

Meals are usually served in the large open-sided Dining Pavilion. The Pavilion has a seating area providing a shady corner retreat to read or just admire the view down the valley. Ellerton has two excellent chefs.

Dinner is a menu of three courses with a choice of curry or non-curry main course.

Menus at Ellerton vary considerably day to day, and so even a guest staying for 10 days is unlikely to be offered the same dishes twice!

You will see from the sample menus that the curries refer to the main meat or fish curry, this is always accompanied by five or six separate vegetable curries. For vegetarians, these provide an excellent range of Sri Lankan dishes.
