Santani Wellness Resort

Santani Wellness Resort

, Sri Lanka

Located within one of the world’s lushest environments, Santani’s holistic architecture treads as lightly as possible upon the land to let nature’s rhythms lull you back to life.

Santani is the first and only purpose-built wellness resort offering luxury escapes in Sri Lanka, designed according to the highest sustainability and eco-standards. The resort provides guests with an escape beyond compare in Sri Lanka.

This 116-acre former tea plantation within a pristine forest has allowed the creation of a restorative destination spa, which is completely accessible yet blissfully secluded. The rooms are built for natural ventilation and are air-condition free – far healthier for you, and better for the environment because this saves over 70% of energy compared to an air-conditioned hotel.

The wellness programmes in Ayurveda, detox, yoga and spa combine on-site pampering and rejuvenation with enlightened learning for healthy living long after you leave these naturally rejuvenating surroundings, placing Santani among the best luxury wellness resorts in the world.

Santani offers a relaxed philosophy and a personalised approach to rebalancing. Every restorative programme is customized for individuals, based upon a scientifically developed questionnaire to determine the wellness components right for you, so that you are able to have a unique luxury escape.

Created by and for successful, worldly professionals, Santani is about seeking and finding inspiration, knowledge and encouragement to balance external demands with inner fulfilment. Offering effective, meaningful wellness without artifice, Santani has a pure and simple purpose; to help you get unstuck.

Sixteen Mountain View Chalets overlook the surrounding mountain range. The stand-alone, single-bedrooms each extend to a balcony and are approximately 500 square feet. These can accommodate a maximum of two people. Each stylish, elevated room faces the surrounding jungle valley and the stunning mountains beyond.

Four Garden View Chalets are designed for families with children (above 12) and located away from the main area of the resort. These chalets are situated in an area with a small man-made lake on one side and a tea plantation on the other.

The chalets are designed as two pairs, connected to each other through a common open area. One of each pair is specifically designed for children between 12 – 15 with no balconies and other safety precautions.

The chalets have unhindered views of the lush vegetation surrounding the area with a cosy, secluded feel, ideal for groups and families. The walking distance from these chalets to the main lounge and restaurant is about 10 minutes, but Tuk Tuks are available to shuttle guests back and forth.

The Santani concept of gourmet wellness cuisine follows the Ayurveda philosophy of ‘Rasa Haya’, meaning six tastes. This unique concept is centred on taste-based nutrition, as opposed to nutrient-based nutrition. Santani’s modern approach to this traditional concept comprises fresh foods representing the six Ayurvedic tastes – sweet, salty, sour, pungent, bitter, and astringent. This time-tested practice ensures that all major nutrients are included, and prioritised according to your Ayurvedic body type.

At Santani the intelligent eating concept of Rasa Haya ensures your body receives nutrition based on its individual needs, with the 6 tastes pacifying the energies within you, bringing your body into a perfect state of balance and harmony.

Your experience at Santani includes a personalised approach to gourmet wellness cuisine. In place of a printed menu for everyone, Santani’s experienced, internationally trained chefs prepare your healthy natural dishes according to a custom meal plan created in coordination with the Head of Wellness and Santani’s in-house Ayurvedic doctor based upon your health goals and physical condition. Personalised meal plans draw upon the most recent scientific research.

Santani offers a welcoming place to retreat and rejuvenate within an unspoilt wilderness in the spiritual centre of Sri Lanka. The temperature at the resort is comfortably cool at 2,800 feet above sea level. Guests are free to roam around these 116 acres of tropical jungle and fertile rice fields, to practice yoga or to meditate along the Hulu River. Dive in and go for a swim if you wish. In the evening enjoy a glass of bubbly by a campfire, relax in the lounge or meet friends at the bar.
