Experiences

Camp fire dinners, candlelit bush dinners (when bugs permit) are all part of the memorable and romantic moments that Shergarh serves up! Being highly passionate about the environment, aside from only venturing into the park each day, Jehan will encourage you to explore the local village and tribal communities either on foot or by bicycle, and to go on bird walks.

Why we love this place

This delightful camp has a very homely feel with the comfortable, rustic tents spread across grassy meadows. With a small pond and sandy paths linking the main lodge to the tents, it is warm and friendly. The lodge is home to a cosy sitting room, dining room and relaxing verandah, all done up in simple, comfortable, authentic jungle style. The small waterbody is a lovely place to relax, listening to water life and the whole setting is very pretty, all the land having been bought by the owners and re-wilded. Small pathways lead through the swaying grasses and the owners are passionate wildlife people with a lifelong aim to protect and support the local habitat and environment. Earthy and wonderful.

About your host

Shergarh is the creation of naturalist Jehan Bhujwala and English wife Katie, whose aim is to ensure a genuine, personal wildlife experience for all. It is a really lovely camp and epitomizes what a wildlife camp should be – peaceful, understated, close to the park entrance, run by truly dedicated wildlife people, and with a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Responsible/Sustainable Tourism

Everything here is as local as it can be, from the building materials to the produce you feast on. Having bought and re-wilded much of the land around the camp, it is now alive with ‘wild’ activity which provides fun ‘night walks’.

Our Recommendation

This is THE place to stay for those who want and authentic, brilliant, nurtured wildlife experience.
