Tiger Photography Tour

Tiger Photography Tour

Join this small-group photography tour led by to the jungles of Tadoba National Park. Tadoba is one of the best places in the world to photograph wild tigers, home to a thriving tiger population.

Located in wildlife-rich Central India, Tadoba’s teak forests are a perfect home for the tiger. Land of Taru, as it is famously known, these jungles were once ruled by the tribal Gond kings. Signs of their fallen empire can still be seen in an area spread over more than 600 sq. km. Tadoba supports the highest population of tigers in the state of Maharashtra.

The support cast includes Leopards, Jungle Cats, Sloth Bears and Dholes (Wild Dogs) and a variety of prey species like Sambhar deer, Barking deer, Spotted deer (Chital), Nilgai, Chinkara and Langur monkeys. The park’s ancient landscape includes make for spectacular backdrops for wildlife photography.

This tour is ideal for wildlife lovers and photographers of all levels who want to hone their photography skills and spend time in the Indian jungles with expert guides.

April is perhaps the best month for tiger and wildlife photography in central India. The weather is hot and dry, but peak summer heat is still to come. Sparse vegetation and warm temperatures increase chances of photographing tigers and other wildlife as they frequent watering holes. Tigers love cooling down in water, and once they find a good spot they’ll spend hours there, happy to pose for photographers.

We will use knowledge and experience to get the group in the right place at the right time, maximizing the number of tiger sightings and other species, and to advice on animal behaviour and photography in the jungles of India.

The tour is limited to a maximum of 9 guests, allowing for personal attention and plenty of space in the safari vehicles for your comfort and wildlife photography convenience.

Day 2 - 6: Photo Safaris

For the next five days, we’ll enjoy morning and evening safaris in Tadoba National Park in our quest for photographic opportunities.

The morning safari begins around 0530-0600 and lasts up to 1030-1100. (Exact timings to be confirmed near the date). During the morning safari, guests enjoy a picnic breakfast provided by the lodge at the designated rest spot within the reserve.

Returning to our lodge after the morning safari, there is time to enjoy the pool, relax under a shady tree or do a spot of birdwatching in the lodge grounds before you take lunch at your convenience.

During one of the afternoons, we shall take a break from our safaris, and you’ll have a chance to relax in your lodge or enjoy a guided bird walk around the lodge.

Your host will be at hand during the day to answer questions, review photos and offer advice to help you make the most of the trip.

The afternoon safari begins around 1430-1500, and lasts up to dusk (approx. 1730).

We shall visit both the core and buffer zones throughout the week. The buffer zones are no less lucrative when it comes to tiger sightings, as rising tiger numbers have led to some tigers establishing territories here.

Returning from our afternoon safaris, there is time to relax and refresh before we meet as a group for beer, laughs, dinner and an informal review of how the day went (not necessarily in that order).

On arrival in Delhi, we’ll transfer to our hotel where one or two rooms will be available for the group for a few hours (to refresh and change).

We’ll spend our last evening enjoying a farewell dinner. There will be time for a final round of beers, and a review of the tour over dinner.
