The Druk Path Trek is one of Bhutan’s most popular short treks, spanning approximately 54 kilometres and typically completed in five or six days. This trek connects the valleys of Paro and Thimphu, leading through ancient trading routes, high mountain passes, and stunning landscapes.
The trail takes you through lush rhododendron forests, alpine yak pastures, and beautiful lakes stocked with snowy mountain trout. Along the way, trekkers can enjoy breathtaking views of Bhutan’s highest peaks, including Mount Jumolhari, Jichu Drake, and Gangkar Puensum. The trek also offers a glimpse into Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage, with visits to ancient fortresses like Jele Dzong and Phadjoding Monastery.
The Druk Path Trek is considered moderately challenging, with the highest point reaching 4,235 meters at Labana La Pass. Trekkers can expect to walk between 5 to 11 kilometres each day, allowing ample time to soak in the spectacular scenery. The best times to embark on this trek are from March to June and September to November, when the weather is most favourable.
