Peradeniya Botanical Garden

This popular and acclaimed botanical garden is bounded on three sides by the Mahaweli River, which snakes around the 60-hectare gardens. Before its use as a botanical garden, it served as a royal pleasure garden. The second largest botanical garden in Asia has an orchid house, and an avenue of palms planted in 1905. It is also an excellent spot for birdwatching.
