Destination

Darjeeling is known world over for its tea with the British introducing the now geographically indexed tea in the mid-1800s. The area was first scouted as an apt place for a sanitorium for the British officers stationed in Kolkata. However, the weather proved appropriate to grow tea and soon commercial tea gardens were established. The Ging Tea House was built in 1864 with the foundation laid by the Darjeeling Tea Company; it is among the first colonial tea planter bungalows to be built. The tea estate is a 30 minute scenic drive from Darjeeling town in Lebong Valley and a three hour drive from Siliguri. Set amidst 960 acres on top of a hill, the plantation retreat offers magnificent views of the mighty Kanchenjunga – the third highest mountain in the world.
