Old Kathmandu

Kathmandu’s medieval heart of temples, pagodas, courtyards, narrow lanes, old town walks and bustling bazaars is a must see. The Durbar Square and its many monuments and museums is a great place to explore Nepal’s rich cultural history.

The wider ancient Kathmandu Valley is the epicentre of Nepal’s country’s heritage, spiritual beliefs and sacred archaeological sites, with no less than seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, namely the Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur, the Buddhist stupas of Swayambhu and Bauddhanath and the Hindu temples of Pashupati and Changu Narayan.
